About

Art as A VISUAL RETREAT — a contemplative space where nature, memory, and emotion gently converge.

I am Katerina Kazkarty, an acrylic and oil artist based in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Working across landscapes, seascapes, florals, and abstract compositions, I approach nature not as a literal subject, but as an emotional and atmospheric experience.

I often begin a painting from memory or from my own photographs, then gradually dive back into the atmosphere of that moment. I feel the space again — the movement of air, the sounds, the light, the scents, the temperature — almost as if the memory becomes tactile on my skin. My hands move freely, allowing those sensations to emerge through layers of paint, bold impasto, and intuitive color. Through this process, I express movement, sensitivity, and a quiet sense of inner stillness.

The heavily layered, Impressionist style, surfaces create a tactile quality that invites a physical connection with the atmospheric presence of each painting. Each work becomes not only an image, but a space — felt, touched, and reawakened through paint.

My background in classical academic art, traditional medicine, and craniosacral therapy informs my attention to rhythm, balance, and embodied perception. Through this intersection of visual discipline and intuitive sensitivity, each painting becomes a personal sanctuary: a private doorway into softness, strength, and quiet renewal.
